Waldie Ball Field

If you enter Cartwright via Highway 3, Waldie Field will be the first thing you'll see as you arrive. With three smaller diamonds and one large one, there's a little something here for everyone.

There is a slo-pitch tournament during Ponderosa Days which gathers a number of teams for some fun competition, and another slo-pitch tournament "Roxy's Memorial Ball Tournament" held every September-long weekend in memory of Roxane McGill.

The Senior AA Cartwright Twins team is in the Border West League, which is home to teams from Cartwright, Killarney, Baldur, Clearwater, Pilot Mound, and Morden.  Stay tuned for the schedule for senior ball in Cartwright! Come out and support the food both and watch some great baseball.

If you would like to register to play Minor ball this year, please contact Pam at (204-529-2699 or 204-529-2402), or if you're interested in playing senior ball, contact Cory Dobbelaere (204-529-2084).

Here's an update from the Ball Club, as of late November 2015:

The main diamond (diamond #1) at Waldie Field has been the site of a fair amount of action after the baseball season concluded.  Volunteers have been working on the next stage of upgrades for the diamond.

This project received a big boost from two organizations this summer - the Cartwright and Area Foundation and Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries (through their Small Capital Sponsorship Program). Both organizations came through in a big way for the Ball Club with funding to complete the project to install sprinklers on the infield of the diamond.  This upgrade will help ensure the playing surface remains in tip top shape for the ball season.  Thanks again to the Foundation, Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries and all the people who helped out fundraising and supporting our efforts.  It's greatly appreciated!  See you in the spring!
